Returning after a weeklong trip to Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, U.S. Rep. Adrian Smith, R-Neb., had heightened spirits about Nebraska beef opportunities in those Asian nations. But while those countries are beginning to accept U.S. beef again after the December 2003 U.S. mad cow incident, a cooling down of the world's economy has slowed rising demand down.

London, December 22 : Columbia University researchers say that the brain protein that causes human version of Mad-Cow disease, known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), may also be involved in aiding our sense of smell.
