Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to break its promise to American consumers to timely upgrade the animal feed ban that was designed to protect U.S. consumers and the U.S. cattle herd against the heightened risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, or mad cow disease).

SANTA CRUZ -- Researchers at UC Santa Cruz have discovered that in an inherited form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, disrupted regulation of copper ions in the brain may be a key factor in the disease.
