Buck has new take on disease (Novato Advance)

A researcher at Novato’s Buck Institute for Age Research on Monday received a $1.5 million, four-year federal “Eureka� grant to further study his novel theory that Alzheimer’s Disease affects people in much the same way that mad cow disease acts in cattle.

It began as an effort by Melody Osheroff’s Girl Scout troop to add some color and cheer to the Osheroff’s front yard as they mourn the loss of 9-year-old Melody and await the return of her dad, Aaron, from the hospital. It blossomed into an all-out labor of love by the community at large.
