OSAKA — Customs officials at Osaka's Kansai International Airport have stopped a series of attempts by departing passengers to smuggle Japanese beef on flights to China, where Japanese beef is a delicacy but imports have been banned because of the mad cow disease scare, sources familiar with the matter said Friday.
